Shipping Rates -- A Note from Our Owner 

Unfortunately Shipping is NOT Free!

Who doesn't like the idea of free shipping when you make a purchase? Everyone likes it! 

There are winners and losers in the shipping "game." When you order items from mega online retailers that ship millions of items each week -- you know who they are -- you are the winner. When you ship gift packages to loved ones far away using the same shipping service, you are now the loser. When you ship something as a consumer it's not free and you may have even felt some sticker shock. 

As a small business in a rural location we are much like you -- no matter who we ship with we pay rates that seem too high. We have negotiated with UPS and find they work with us and provide us with the best possible rates and the greatest reliability for tracking our valuable hand-made folding kayaks. We use their service over others because they can always tell us exactly where the package is -- other shippers can't.   

We work hard to calculate the most accurate shipping but ultimately have no control over what we are charged. The rate charged for the shipping of your order is based on the value/insurance, size and weight of your products, and your location.

Back to the shipping game, consumers shipping outbound packages and small businesses are the losers in this game. We are all subsidizing the giant online retailers who ship millions of cheap products that mostly are not made in America.

For example, we recently learned that approximately 15% of a major carrier's revenue came from a major online retailer, yet roughly 80% of the packages in their trucks come from the same retailer. The math doesn't add up. At the end of the day, something's not right here. 


Accessories, parts, replacement hulls, and in-stock boat orders must be paid in full before shipping. 

A 50% deposit is required for all custom boat orders before they can be added to the production schedule. 

The full invoice amount is due upon completion of all custom boats. No boat will ship prior to full payment being received. Once a boat is completed, customers will have no more than 30 days to pay the full balance. Any boat that is not paid in full within 30 days of completion will become property of Long Haul Products, Inc. and the customer will forfeit their deposit.   


We use the following carriers to deliver our orders: USPS and UPS 

Order Tracking

If a tracking # is provided by the shipping carrier, we will update your order with the tracking information. Please note that some orders using 1st Class USPS mail will not have tracking numbers.

Back Orders

If an item goes on back order we will ship you the part of your order that is in stock. When the item becomes available we will ship you the rest of your order. You will not be charged any additional shipping and handling for the second shipment.

Returns, Refunds, Restocks, and Exchanges

How To Return An Item

Your item must be in its original unused condition to be returned unless there is a manufacturer defect, in which case you must notify Long Haul Products within the first 60 days after receiving your product. You must return the item within 30 days of notifying us of the defect. A return authorization is required with all returns.

We may require photo documentation of item in question of the defect, we reserve the right to refuse a return for refund, all sales should be considered final.

Long Haul Folding Kayaks will always work hard and continue to strive for customer satisfaction.

Please email to request a return authorization and/or refund and we will assign you a return shipping authorization tag for the item in question.

Please note that all orders which are cancelled after deposits/payments are received, custom parts ordered, and for which production has begun, will carry a restock fee of up to 20% depending on the details of the order.

Include in your package a signed letter stating the reason for your return and the original receipt.
